That machine is almost 9 years old, I don’t think it even meets system requirements for carbonite. I recommend replacing it as soon as possible. The processor in there is a 3rd gen Intel, they are currently on the 12th Generation.
If you are hesitant about upgrading you can tap or click here for a tutorial on performing a clean install of Windows. DSL should be able to create the USB bootable media within about an hour or two.
